June 07, 2018

Puppet has acquired Reflect, the data-visualization-as-a-service platform.

Reflect’s technology will accelerate Puppet’s product innovation, empowering customers with intuitive, modern and flexible ways to harness insights to inform their journeys to pervasive automation.

“We’ve always helped customers mine valuable information about the state of their IT landscape and take action on it. With the innovation and talent in the marketplace today, we have an opportunity to improve that experience—giving customers new ways to leverage their data, and make faster, more informed decisions," said Sanjay Mirchandani, CEO, Puppet. "Reflect brings the right pedigree of modern technology and unique talent to make this a perfect match.”

Together, Puppet and Reflect help customers make better decisions as they progress on their journey to pervasive automation, with clearer insights, across every environment.

“Reflect helps organizations transform their raw data into visual stories that are easy to understand,” said Alex Bilmes, CEO and co-founder, Reflect. “With Puppet’s technology and expertise, we are able to capture an incredibly rich dataset, unlike any other available today. By joining forces we will be able to deliver value from that data through beautiful charts, visualizations and interactive data tools.”

“There is so much potential within the automation space, and Puppet is accelerating its investment in new technology to help our customers navigate this new world of software delivery. This is especially important as we continue to build the best team to deliver an aggressively expanding product portfolio that our customers love,” said Mirchandani. “We saw great success following the acquisition of Distelli last year and are excited to do it again with the addition of Reflect. This is just the latest step in the continued journey to pervasive automation.”

The push to make banking products digitally ready (and very quickly) has spurred the old “buy vs. build” debate in bank IT departments: Should we build our own software from scratch in-house? Or do we buy off-the-shelf solutions from third-parties? And while this dichotomy may have been a suitable mentality years ago at the start of the digital transformation revolution in banking, it simply no longer fits with the reality of today's more complex development landscape ...

With the rise of next-generation technologies, businesses have access to more data than ever, creating opportunities to develop new channels for revenue. Contributing to the increase in data is a growing reliance on the external supply chain. What to automate? Which parts of the delivery process are good candidates? Which applications will benefit from automation? At first, those sound like silly questions. Automate all your repetitive processes. If you think that you'll do the same thing manually more than once, automate it. Why would you waste your creative potential and knowledge by doing things that are much better done by scripts? Yet, an average company does not adhere to that logic. Why is that? ...
