Parasoft Continuous Testing Solutions Extend Support for Continuous Integration
October 30, 2017

Parasoft announced the latest release of Parasoft SOAtest and Virtualize with expanded support for CI platforms.

To support continuous testing, new plug-ins for continuous integration allow users to parse test results from automated test executions back into common CI platforms such as Bamboo, Jenkins, Microsoft VSTS, and Team City. These test results fully integrate into existing continuous delivery (CD) pipelines along with specific information indicating exactly what happened under the hood, enabling teams to facilitate their go or no-go decisions required for true continuous testing. To learn more about the latest release, read the detailed blog post, or request a demo of Parasoft SOAtest and Parasoft Virtualize.

In addition to enhancing support for the Continuous Integration process, the new release of Parasoft SOAtest also helps businesses by extending support for organizations leveraging Behavior Driven Development (BDD), to augment the next evolution for test case creation in which human-readable language can be efficiently translated into test cases. Through the new integration with Cucumber, which facilitates human-language test creation, Parasoft SOAtest customers can associate Gherkin plain-text feature specifications with SOAtest test cases, simplifying the task of associating business requirements with testing. This integration requires no scripting, which opens the testing process to more people and allows business analysts to drive test case execution without writing any code.

Additionally, Parasoft has continued to focus on simplifying test data by enhancing many of the workflows in the web portal. The new release provides users with greater access to create, manage, manipulate, copy, and sort existing data, as well as import and export data from the data repository infrastructure to extend data coverage.

Business initiatives supported in the release include:

- Continuous Integration (CI):New plugins for industry-standard CI systems accelerate and simplify continuous testing.

- Behavior Driven Development (BDD): SOAtest’s new Cucumber extension enables any team member (software developer, tester, manager, etc.) to create meaningful API test scenarios, bridging the gap between testing and business requirements.

- Internet of Things (IoT): New tooling extends support for functional testing in the IoT era through industry-specific protocols (MQTT and WebSockets), giving teams full access to configure, send, and validate messages in IoT environments.

- Using realistic test data: New test data workflows allows teams to reduce data friction by reducing the amount of time needed to wait for usable data.
