Coder 2.0 Released

Coder announced the general availability of Coder 2.0, an open source, cloud-native platform that allows developers to write, run and test their code on any device, from anywhere, using a Cloud Development Environment (CDE).
Coder 2.0 adds Microsoft Dev Container support, a Template Registry and tight integration with JFrog Artifactory and Xray. Coder shifts development from local workstations to cloud-based workspaces, benefitting developers and platform teams by significantly accelerating developer onboarding and productivity, and new capabilities in Coder 2.0 reduce the time for developers to submit their first line of code to less than five minutes.
Coder 2.0 streamlines CDE workflows and improves experience for both developers and platform engineering teams by removing productivity bottlenecks. CDEs are computationally faster, more streamlined and more secure than local development environments, greatly reducing the need for manual configuration. With Coder, users enjoy the local development experience with all of the security, power and scalability of the cloud.
New features in Coder 2.0 include:
- Envbuilder for Dev Containers, an open source project by Coder based on the Microsoft Dev Containers specification. Envbuilder enables users to control their development environments without affecting infrastructure or requiring the work of DevOps and Platform teams.
- Template Registry, a central repository to discover and browse Coder configuration Templates. The Template Registry includes launches with hundreds of Coder-certified and community-contributed Templates, making it easy to get started with Coder for a variety of developer tooling and cloud providers.
- Integration with JFrog, extending the security of your software supply chain to the developer desktop. The single-click integration provides the ability to securely store Coder resources in JFrog Artifactory, as well as expose Xray health and status information directly in the Coder user interfaces.
All features in Coder 2.0 will be available in Coder Open Source.
