GitHub Actions Updated
April 02, 2024

GitHub introduced several new updates for GitHub Actions to further support enterprise customers, bringing stronger security and even more power to GitHub hosted runners.

These enhancements will simplify the adoption of GitHub Actions across all project sizes and complexities, without compromising security or performance.

Highlights include:

- Azure private networking for GitHub-hosted runners: Now generally available, this feature combines powerful compute in the cloud with secure access and comprehensive control over network security, eliminating the overhead of managing and maintaining your own infrastructure.

- GPU-hosted runners for machine learning: Teams working with LLMs or those requiring GPU graphic cards for game development can now run automation and CI/CD processes on Actions, complete with app testing, auto-scaling, and private networking.

- Additional runner SKUs: GitHub is expanding its hosted runner fleet to include 2 vCPU Linux and 4 vCPU Windows runners, and Apple silicon-hosted runners are now generally available.

These updates come at the five-year anniversary of GitHub Actions, with 22,000 Actions now available in the GitHub Marketplace. This marks the next chapter of enhanced enterprise readiness across the platform, helping developer teams standardize their automation and CI/CD processes on the GitHub platform.
