January 17, 2018

CircleCI has closed a $31 million Series C round of funding led by Top Tier Capital Partners alongside Industry Ventures and Heavybit, who join existing investors Scale Venture Partners, Baseline Ventures, Harrison Metal, and DFJ Ventures.

Prior to this round, the company had raised a total of $28 million.

“In a few short years, we have become one of the largest build systems on the planet,” said Jim Rose, CEO of CircleCI. “With this latest round of funding, we can now harness the incredible data and insights we’ve collected to invest in prediction and intelligent automation, helping all users of CircleCI build better software, faster. Our mission is to give everyone the ability to build and deliver software at the speed of imagination.”

CircleCI delivers scale and speed that is unmatched in the software development industry. With over 7 million builds processed every month, CircleCI is one of the fastest-growing developer tools in the world. Successful companies of all sizes trust CircleCI to build, test, and deploy their software including Spotify, Facebook, Lyft, Autodesk, Adobe, Instacart, Shopify, Percolate, Blue Apron, Kickstarter, Stitch Fix, Coinbase, Zenefits, Heroku, Udemy, Docker, and many others. CircleCI plans to use the new investment to radically reduce the time from idea to delivery via automation and machine learning.

“With the rise of microservices architectures and agile product development, CircleCI is well positioned to continue helping developer teams deliver excellent products to consumers,” said Garth Timoll, Sr., Managing Director of Top Tier Capital Partners. “We are excited to partner with CircleCI as they enter their next stage of growth while continuing to facilitate a more streamlined testing and software shipping experience for startups and large enterprises across multiple industries.”

“CircleCI is transforming how companies build software,” said Tom Drummond, Managing Director of Heavybit. “CircleCI replaces cumbersome traditional software development processes with continuous software delivery. Their platform intelligently automates slow and unreliable software builds to let developers quickly and seamlessly take applications from idea to market. We’re thrilled to partner with them.”
