Appfire Acquires Flow
February 05, 2025

Appfire announced its acquisition of Flow, an enterprise software product for Software Engineering Intelligence (SEI), from Pluralsight.

This strategic acquisition enables Appfire to more deeply serve engineering teams and brings an SEI platform to Appfire's portfolio, which complements Appfire's leading products 7pace Timetracker and BigPicture PPM and will unlock tremendous insights and productivity for engineering teams.

With Flow, executives can ingest data from all platforms and normalize it into standardized developer productivity metrics that are clearly defined and industry benchmarked, providing leaders with a cohesive and actionable view of their engineering operations.

"This acquisition marks an exciting new phase for Appfire, since Flow fits seamlessly into our broader mission to equip and connect every team so they can plan and deliver their best work," said Randall Ward, founder and CEO emeritus of Appfire. "By introducing Flow to our portfolio and broadening the scope of our technology category, we're helping enterprises better understand developer productivity, R&D investments and more through leveraging the platforms and ecosystems we serve. This in turn will enable them to drive efficiency, gain actionable insights, and deliver exceptional results."

By expanding its product portfolio in the SEI space, Appfire can now more effectively support engineering personas such as Chief Technology Officers, Chief Product Officers, and engineering leaders at the team, director and VP levels. Flow spans ecosystems by connecting with tools that teams use every day (Jira, GitHub, Azure DevOps, GitLab), in turn bringing even more value to Appfire's customers and partners.

"This moment marks a big milestone for both Appfire and our key stakeholders," said Colin Puckett, senior vice president of global channel and field operations at Appfire. "Flow is a high-value enterprise product, which carries specific expectations from enterprise customers about how they buy. While we remain channel-obsessed, we recognize the impact of a dynamic and complementary approach to our market strategy. As we expand our portfolio and introduce products like Flow, Appfire's go-to-market strategy will diversify in a way that benefits everyone, from employees and shareholders to partners and customers. We're excited about the opportunity to build a Flow-specific channel program while ensuring our partners continue to thrive alongside Appfire."

"We are so excited to integrate Flow into Appfire's innovative product portfolio," said David Farah, GM and Head of Product at Flow. "Flow has been a leader in the SEI space for years, and this acquisition presents a valuable opportunity to help engineering teams across ecosystems work more efficiently by making data driven decisions that directly improve business outcomes. By augmenting existing Appfire products, we can elevate the optimization of development processes beyond engineering and unlock delivery efficiency across entire organizations."

Flow stands out as an independent SaaS product, with capabilities supporting the effectiveness of existing apps. The platform complements Appfire's products such as BigPicture PPM and 7pace Timetracker. With Flow now a part of its product suite, Appfire strengthens its position in current and new ecosystems and opens up fresh opportunities within the SEI category.
